Somedays just do not go your way.

Some of you may be wondering why the heck I named the blog post this week the above caption. Well, a little background; this cute family is my sister and her girls (My own daughter also had to sneak in a few photos, even though she was not suppose to be, Auntie Katie couldn't just tell her no).For those of you unaware, my beautiful and caring sister is halfway through chemo treatments battling lymphoma.

This day she was not only battling cancer but also three little girls who wanted to choose their own outfits, who didn't want to wear shoes, and who simply refused to smile at their auntie. To be honest, I left the photo shoot feeling defeated. I just wanted to capture a few current pictures of the girls and didn't feel I really nailed it. I left and told my sister I would have to come back another day. (Yep, that is right folks this photographer is far from perfect and sometimes kiddos just need another day)

Much to my surprise, when I got home I looked at this photo shoot in a new light. As I sat looking through photos, I thought to myself we are sure to remember this day! These three little girls have been brave right along with their Mom. Kids are allowed to be overwhelmed as well. I could write a million things more about how I feel about this family and this photo shoot but I will save my emotional mumbo jumbo for another day. For now, I will just remind my sister and these girls just how much we love them! Also, there will have to be a take two so we can get Dad in a few photos too!

A Little Rain and a Little Shine

I am so blessed that I get to work with this family on a reoccurring basis. I am always filled with laughs and challenges (my only challenge is trying to get Tom to smile, the extra work is worth it).  We spent the night snapping group pictures in between rain showers. All the kids were troopers, but it started to rain harder and we had to rethink our plan. I am glad we came back on Thursday for some fun in the sun.

Thanks again Statz family for a good session. I am so thankful for clients like you.

The Adventures of Harper and Sawyer Month 2

4th of July 2014

What a wonderful weekend full of cousin love. Our little family traveled to Milwaukee. Sawyer met some of our favorite people including his Grandma and Great Grandma. We were able to take in the fourth with family and had many smiles. Three 2 year olds can just be down right fun!

We also had a photo shoot of the kiddos. I am positive that taking photos of your own never goes as smooth :) Here is a bit of our adventure this weekend!

Inspiring Moments

This weekend I attended the Jesse Parker Tears into Water 5k run/walk. It was such an inspiring day. So many people that came to support such a wonderful cause . If you want to check out more about how this amazing young man helps bring clean water to those who are so desperately in need, check out this piece done by WKBT: Jesse Parker. Such a wonderful family carrying on the dreams of their son.

For those of you who know me, I DO NOT run. My attitude toward running really changed after this event. There was so much positive energy surrounding everyone. Even the volunteers and organizers were wearing contagious smiles. I left with the comment to my husband, " I can really see how this could be addicting".

Several people, my guess was about 50, also came to show support for my beautiful sister. Team Katie made my heart sing. To watch all the people who really care about her come out in support was heart warming. As pictured below even several of Katie's students braved the run and reminded us all that if you put your mind to something, nothing is out of reach. So Thank you from the bottom of all our hearts. Katie is blessed to have so many coworkers, friends, students, and parents supporting her and making her unexpected journey that much more bearable. We love you Katie! Your corner is full of love, enthusiasm and some amazing people you have touched along the way.
